The Music that They Constantly Play, it Says Nothing About My Life
We can't tell you the last time we actually bought something at Tower Records. Seriously. And why should we? With the many great records stores in our fair city there wasn't any reason.
And, heck, the prices they charged for a new CD were a little past outrageous. If we wanted to pay that much we'd head over to Aquarius. No offense to the peeps over at Aquarius, but sometimes you are a tad expensive. Yet, you've turned us on to so much music over the years that it's forgivable. Plus, you guys are independent and stuff...
Okay, enough digression and ass-kissin'.
We went to the Castro Tower Records/Books/Movies last evening to take advantage of the much-talked-about liquidation sale. Boy, were we severely disappointed! The signs in the window promise 10 - 30% off. However, none of the stock was actually discounted past 10%.
TEN PERCENT!
Seriously lame-o! We really wanted that Criterion Collection Rushmore DVD, but 10% of $39.99 really wasn't a bargain.
Sorry to see that Tower is going, but, unfortunately it's the sign of the times. All this whining and moaning about how the digital download is ruining the record industry is getting old, too. This beast was in the horizon a long time ago.
Now, excuse please, we must get going. We're going to go buy Rushmore from Amazon for $25.
